Contrasting Managers and Leaders

Contrasting Managers and Leaders

This video brought a lot of information to the surface on the topic of leadership. As a leader you have to understand and deliver in your role. The reason why is because people are depending on you and looking to you to make the decisions that will ultimately affect them one way or another on a daily basis. On the other hand as a manager you are focusing more on the fact that your employees have a job to do and your role is to ensure that job gets completed on time. These are two very different approaches and this video does a great job of comparing and contrasting between the two. The B.E.C.C. analogy was perfectly stated and the concept is excellent.

How is your organization allowing leaders to emerge and take a more prominent role in the decision making process? What was your takeaway from the video on how you can improve an approach that you currently have in your organization? The best way to decipher between a leader and a manager is in the duties in which they are being asked to perform. A leader is innovative and a manager helps deliver the training to get the innovation to the end user in most cases.
