Day 100- Upper Marlboro, Maryland: When Will God Return?

As we take every breath that we are blessed with, we seldom stop to think about whether or not today will be our last day on Earth. Who really wants to think about this subject anyway? We push these thoughts to the back of our mind and concentrate on enjoying life. The truth of the matter is that we really never know when God is going to punch our ticket. Some people are here for what seems like forever, others at midlife go home to our Father, and some leave this place before they even get a chance to learn how to read or write.

Beyond when we will leave this world is the even bigger question, “when will the world end when God returns home”? This is a highly debated subject and a question that people have been speculating about for years and years. Where are taught in the Bible from 1 Thessalonians how the Lord will return, “for you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night”. We do not know the time or place from which God will make his return, but we do know that we can prepare ourselves now so that we are ready for his grand arrival.

The final days of this world are not going to be pretty and there will be plenty of weeping and gnashing of teeth. We do not want to be on the wrong end of the stick when it comes time to be judged on our acceptance into Heaven or our soul going straight to hell. As we walk along this path we are on for Christ, we have to take the good with the bad and soldier on.

The Apostle Matthew in his Gospel explains it like this, “For many are called, but few are chosen”. God wants us all to repent and obey the commandments presented to us in this world. We have the choice to obey God or to spit in His face. What choice will we make? With that being said we are not perfect, but we should be mindful and prepared for the day the Lord will call us home.
