Heart to Heart with God: A Journey Towards Acceptance Day 66

365 Days of Reflection Towards God’s Love and Acceptance
~June 4, 2014-June 3, 2015~

Day 66-Atlanta, Georgia:

How many times do we go around the house at night ensuring all of the doors and windows are locked? We have a mindset that is geared towards protecting not only ourselves, but also our loved ones as well from outside threats. However, if we have the protection of Jesus and God, is this really necessary? If someone wants to do harm to us, won’t they succeed if they are motivated enough no matter if the house is secured or not?

The work of the devil can consume us in many ways that make us both fearful and afraid of what can occur when the light is turned into darkness at night, but only if we allow that to occur. The light of God is always on and there are no battles that He cannot win on our behalf. Therefore, instead of securing our house, shouldn’t we focus more on securing our heart and soul for God’s arrival? The time and place that Jesus will call us home is an unknown component of our lives. If we knew that we would die tomorrow, wouldn’t we get all of our affairs in order immediately? Furthermore, what if we were warned ahead of time that on a particular day our Father in Heaven would return as expressed in Revelation? Would we not go around ensuring that we are prepared for what will occur?

The fact is that we do not know the future, and only God knows what will occur on a daily basis in our lives. From 2 Peter it is referred to in this context, “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up”. We must prepare ourselves through our faith and love in Jesus Christ for that moment when we are called to be examined by God, so that we do not burn in hell for eternity. If we stay mindful of our relationship with God there will be no surprises when we are face to face with our Lord and Savior.
