Day 140- Richmond, Virginia: Second Chance

Sometimes in life you get an opportunity to start over or to make changes that will give you a second chance with God to get it right. How many times have we been through a traumatic incident and just prayed to God for mercy asking for Him to please fix everything? Likewise, have we ever uttered a prayer to Jesus that admits our faults and stresses our hearts desires to never go down that path again? These pleas to God are valid and even the smallest prayer is important to our Father through the Holy Spirit.

In Hebrews we are taught a valuable lesson when it comes to praying in the Holy Spirit, “But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires. These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt”. Just having the faith to repent is half of the battle. The other half of the battle is making the changes to not keep going down the wrong path over and over again.

Not everyone in this world gets a second chance. Not everyone gets the opportunity to repent for their sins against God and their fellow brothers and sisters. It is a blessing to be afforded an opportunity to make right a mistake we have made. Life truly is a blessing and what we do with our gifts in this world is all that matters with God as our guide. We are not perfect and we will make mistakes today or in the near future. When we focus in on what areas of our life we can do better in through prayer, God will open the doors necessary in order for us to prosper in unimaginable ways!
