365 Days of Reflection Towards God’s Love and Acceptance
~June 4, 2014-June 3, 2015

Day 169- Richmond, Virginia: Are We Ready?

When the pearly gates open will we be able to walk through or will we be forced to watch as the close without us entering? Are we prepared for this day? Are we ready for the unexpected? We may not be able to grasp what will happen completely when we are judged for the actions we have taken in our lives, but through our faith we see what it takes to give ourselves the best opportunity to be judged fairly. This fact leads us to ask ourselves, what we will we do before we get there in order to successfully rest our case before God.

There are 365 days in a year, which means we have 365 opportunities to live our lives in a manner that pleases God. What is the percentage of days that we love more than hate? Furthermore, what is the number of days that we have forgiven those who have hurt us, as instructed by Jesus throughout the New Testament. We can read the writing on the wall and do one of two things. We can take a chance and roll the dice hoping that we do not roll a seven when the point is an eight or we can invest our talents into helping others as much as we help ourselves. What is more important pleasing ourselves or choosing God over anything else of this world?

Think of it this way. Before we go on a trip we usually get a packing list in order. We pack a few clean changes of clothes, cold gear, and wet weather clothing. We make sure we have batteries and a flashlight. We pack snacks and the toiletries that we need. Lastly, we ensure that we have a map so that we know where we will be setting up our camp at. This is why if we do not make a list for our journey to Heaven of what we need with God, there may be consequences that are beyond our control. The better we are with praying to Jesus to help us pack our bags, the better prepared we will be to not be left behind in the dust.
